Team Time Trial – Beginners / 6 laps / 11-65 years old
  • Riders must be aged from 11 to 65.
  • Each team features six riders. The time of the fifth rider of the team crossing the finish line is taken for ranking. Cash prizes will be awarded for Champion, 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up.
  • Team with less than five members will not be allowed to start. Teams which have registered less than five riders will be disqualified.
  • No backup rider is allowed. If any non-registered riders are found in the team, the team result will be disqualified. The given awards, cash prizes or other prizes must be returned to the Organizer.
  • Commissaire has the right to order any unqualified teams and riders to get off the track and the results will be listed as incomplete.
  • Each team must wear uniform with same colour and pattern. If any team fails to comply with this requirement, the result of the team will not be recognised.
  • There will be no rematch in cases such as the team fails to report at the assigned time (late at the start) or bicycle mechanical incidents (such as tire blowout) or accidents happened during the race etc.
  • Teams set off at 20-second intervals.
  • Riders must keep riding on the left-hand side during the race except overtaking. After overtaking riders must keep riding on the left again to avoid accidents.
  • All riders, even of the same team, are not allowed to push or pull the bicycles of other riders by their hands or any part of the body.
  • Teams must ride in a tight formation. If riders of the team are dropped in a distance of more than 300 meters, the Commissaire has the right to bring them off the track and the result will be listed as incomplete.
  • If a team is caught, it can neither lead, nor follow in the slipstream of the team that catches it. This clause equally applies to dropped riders. Dropped riders cannot lead or follow in the slipstream of another team.
  • The team being caught up must leave a lateral gap of at least 2 metres between the other team and keep it for 1 km. Then the team should ride at least 25 metres away from the team that catches it. The Commissaire has the right to ask any teams or riders who violate the rule to leave a distance of 25 metres from another team. For those who do not obey the instructions, the Commissaire has the right to add at least 2-minute penalty time to the finish time of the team as final result.
  • If a team is affected by any causes that it is unable to continue the remaining race, or drop out of the competition or finish the race with less than five riders, the result of the team will not be ranked.
  • The team must keep count of the number of laps and distance finished during the race to avoid the result being cancelled due to the riders’ insufficient number of laps and distance ridden.
  • The route will be closed in 8 minutes after the first team of each category completes the race. The Commissaire has the right to ask riders who fail to complete the race by the close time to follow instructions of staff to leave the route in an orderly manner. The result will be listed as incomplete.

Wheels of 27 inches (700 x 18-28c), and equipment such as Aero Bar, Disc Wheel, Tri-spoke Wheel, e.g.: 3-spoke, 5-spoke and helmets are allowed for time trial races. Other bicycle types, such as mountain bike, folding bike etc., are not allowed.

  • Riders of male and female student category must hold a valid student ID card and aged from 6 to 65.
  • Groups set off at 20-second intervals, including University Student Male, Collage Student Male, Primary Student Male, University Student Female, Collage Student Female and Primary Student Female.
  • The racers will be ranked according to their finishing time, i.e. the time passing the finishing line. Prizes will be awarded to the Champion, 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up for every category. School which scores the highest will be awarded the ‘Inter School Bike Charity Cup’. 2 points for every participating students, 10 points for champion, 7 points for 1st runner-up and 5 points for 2nd runner-up.
    (Note: If two schools score the same total marks, the school of greater number of students in the best places of the race will be the winner).

Public Male and Female / 4 laps / 11-65 years old
  • Riders must be aged from 11 to 65 years old.
  • Separated categories of “Public Male” and "Public Female" will be set-up if number of participants exceeds 350. Results and prizes will be calculated in separated categories.
  • No registered member of the “Hong Kong Bicycle Association” or “Hong Kong Triathlon Association” is allowed for this category.
  • If any non-registered riders are found, the result will be disqualified. The given awards, cash prizes or other prizes must be returned to the Organizer.
  • All participants in this category will start at the same time.

(Disable riders who have submitted relevant health certificate, bike specification and pictures and approved by the Organizer before register can be exempted).
District Council Invitation Team / 1 lap / 18-65 years old / ~1500m (Turning Point Before Tunnel)

Prizes will be awarded to Champion, 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up. As for the scoring system of duo bike race, please check the appendix #.

  • Finishing time of the second member will be counted for ranking. Prizes will be awarded to the Champion, 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up for every category.
  • All participants in this category will start at the same time.
  • No backup rider is allowed. If any non-registered riders are found in the team, the team result will be disqualified. The given awards, cash prizes or other prizes must be returned to the Organizer.
  • There will be no rematch in cases such as the rider fails to report at the assigned time (late at the start) or bicycle mechanical incidents (such as tire blowout or accidents happened during the race) etc.
  • There is no Neutral Zone in the event. If mechanical incidents (such as tire blowout) happened to a rider during the race, Organizer will not provide any bicycle equipment replacement or maintenance services. If the rider fails to repair the bicycle by himself/herself and he/she may impinge upon safety of the ride, the Commissaire has the right to ask the rider to drop out of the competition.
  • Riders who are not able to finish the whole race (not able to cross the finish line) will not be ranked.
  • If the caught rider has dropped behind over one lap by the leading rider and he/she may affect other riders’ performance or cause any accident, he/she should follow Commissaire’s instructions and leave the route immediately so as not to affect the other riders to continue the race.
  • When the competition is on the last lap, the Commissaire will ring the bell to signal the leading rider. The bell rings to signal the leading rider only. If the rider is being caught or has dropped behind, he/she should keep count of the number of laps and distance finished during the race to avoid the result being disqualified due to insufficient number of laps and distance ridden.
  • To avoid accidents, riders should not jostle others or cut line at random.
  • The route will be closed in 5 minutes after the first rider completes the race. The Commissaire has the right to ask riders who fail to complete the race to follow the instructions of the staff to leave the route in an orderly manner. The result will be listed as incomplete.
Road bike, mountain bike or BMX with the wheels between 16-29 inches is required in this category. The Organizer provides renting service of mountain bike with wheels of 24 and 26 inches. Other types of bike such as road bike, folding bike, time-trial bike, tricycle or duo bike etc. are not allowed. Riders cannot use equipment such as Aero Bar, Disc Wheel, Tri-spoke Wheel (e.g.: 3-spoke, 5-spoke) and time-trial-race helmets.

  • Riders will be ranked by their order of crossing the finishing line. Champion, 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up will be rewarded with awards and cash prizes.
  • The competition of this group takes place in the venue space (not in Lung Wo Road). There is "preliminary", "semi-final" and "final" for the race. Eight riders in each group will set off at the same time. The time of the first two riders crossing the finish line will be taken for ranking. The rest riders will join the next round for the second chance to compete in the final.
  • The format of the preliminary match: around 8 riders as a group and set off at the same time. The first two riders crossing the finish line will have a place in the final. The third to the eighth rider will compete in the semi-final for the last chance to race a place in the final.
  • The format of the Semi-final match: around 6 riders as a group and set off at the same time. The first rider crossing the finish line will have a place in the final. The second to the sixth rider of the semi-final match will be ranked according to their time crossing the finish line.
  • The format of the semi-final and the final match will proceed with heats until the top riders have the places in the final. As for those who fail to have a place in the final and drop out from the semi-final, the result in the semi-final will be taken for ranking. The riders and their guardians should pay attention to the arrangement of the race.
  • The format of the final match: the first eight riders as a group and set off at the same time. The time the riders crossing the finish line will be taken for ranking. Trophies will be awarded for Champion, 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up.
  • If the number of riders of the age group is less than six in the "Preliminary" or "semi-final" race, the time of the riders crossing the finish line will be strictly taken for deciding the position as Champion, 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up and they will be awarded trophies. There will be no final race for the third to the sixth riders to compete for ranking.

If mechanical incidents (such as tire blowout) happened to a rider during the race, Organizer will not provide any bicycle equipment replacement or maintenance services. If the rider fails to repair the bicycle by himself/herself and he/she may impinge upon safety of the ride, the Commissaire has the right to ask the rider to drop out of the competition.

Riders must ride on the original standard balance bike with wheels of 12 inches. No other types of bikes with pedals such as modified kids’ bike, BMX etc. are allowed. Any balance bike with modified components to be used in the race must seek approval from the Organizer by submitting relevant bike specification and pictures upon application.
Inline Skating vs Bike Relay Challenge / 3 laps / 11-60 years old
  • Relay of three-rider race, every team features three riders with one rider must be 10-16 years old and the remaining riders can be 16 years old or above. The time of the third rider of the team crossing the finishing line is taken for ranking. Cash prizes will be awarded for Champion, 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up.
  • Each rider in the team has to finish the whole lap before handing over to the next rider.
    (Bike: ~1200m/lap, Skates: ~750m/lap)

Bike with 24-inches to 29-inches wheels is required in this category. The Organizer provides renting service of mountain bike with wheels of 24 and 26 inches. Bike for time trial race is not allowed. Riders cannot use equipment such as Aero Bar, Disc Wheel, Tri-spoke Wheel (e.g.: 3-spoke, 5-spoke) and time-trial-race helmets in the above category.

Scoring Scale of Different Categories
The Commissaire will take the chip time of the rider crossing the finish line for ranking (not including the balance bike group and parade group), the chip is embedded in the race bid. The riders must keep the chip properly and install the race bid under the seat and behind the seat post (as shown in the picture). If electronic timing system failure happened due to chip disturbance, the backup manual record time or video record by the Commissaire will be taken for ranking. No appeal is allowed.
The Commissaire will show the number of finish laps for the leading riders at the finish area. This number is not indicated for the riders who drop behind. Riders should keep count of the number of unfinished laps. Under whatever reason, if the rider fails to complete the assigned distance (laps), no ranking will be granted (except for the public). The Commissaire will take the record from the General Assembly electronic timing system to determine whether the rider finishes the assigned distance. No appeal is allowed.
If the rider does not carry the race bid or time chip on the race day, he/she must arrive the information center at least 45 minutes before the start to confirm whether he/she still qualified to compete in the race. If the rider has the number bid without the time chip, he/she can only ride in the race without any ranking, medals and bonuses.

General Rules
  • The set off time of each category may be earlier or later due to the streamlining of the race. Riders must be 15 minutes in advance to report to the starting area.
  • Except for the team time trial race, riders of other categories cannot use the following equipment or bicycle accessories:
    o Aero Bar
    o Disc Wheel
    o Tri-spoke Wheel, e.g.:3-spoke, 5-spoke
    o Time Trial Helmet
    o Triathlon special kettle rack (under the seat or in front of the handle)
    o No modified individual bike for time trial race or components can be used as a collective bike and set off for race (for example, no individual team time trial assembled into road bike handrail, etc.)
  • Riders in the Elite Groups must be registered members of the Hong Kong Cycling Association for the year. Riders must ride on road bike, wheels of 27 inches (700 x 18-28c). Other bicycle types, such as: mountain bike, folding bike or bike for time trial race etc., are not allowed.
  • Only the result of the top three of each category will be announced on the race day by the Organizer. The result for all will be published on the SPORTSOHO website and the Organizer website within one week.
  • Rriders are not allowed to use single-wheeled bikes, track bikes (except with brake systems), duo bikes, tricycles, auxiliary bikes, family bikes and special welding bikes (such as wheel sizes greater than 29 inches or above) or any other bikes that may endanger other riders. As for the invited guests, disabled persons or anyone who need to use other types of bikes, they must submit the relevant bike structure and pictures to the Organizer for approval prior the registration.
  • Riders must not use long-bar self-portrait artifacts or umbrellas during the course of the race for the safety of other riders.
  • Riders can use video recording equipment during the race provided that it must be installed firmly on the bike or helmet. There must be no sharp objects striking out or any stretching stuffs in the equipment or accessories so as to ensure the safety of other riders.
  • Riders should not carry back sacks during the race, or installed baskets in front of the bikes or saddle bag in the rear so as to ensure the safety of other riders.
  • Riders are recommended to use front and back lights (white for front, red for back) when the environment is in low visibility to ensure safety.
